National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act

The CTFA is currently in negotiation with the Department of Environmental Affairs proposing pertinent input from key users and suppliers of Indigenous ingredients.

They are appealing for amendment to the current act which would take volumes utilized by end users into consideration, instead of a blanket fee being applicable.
Smaller role players within the industry would thus hopefully be offered a lower (as yet undecided) permit application fee.

Manufacturers should not view this act as an enemy but rather as a need to protect our rich diverse flora and fauna.

We would like to encourage all relevant players within the industry to apply for their permits (without making any payment) and to continue business as usual until these matters have been addressed.

It must be noted that this is not an act simply for South Africa, but it forms part of a Global affiliation - the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) to which South Africa is a signatory.

All African raw materials, will at some stage in the future form part of this act.

GO GREEN
Thursday, 17 March 2011 06:54

ShamrockSaint Patrick's Day is a religious holiday celebrated internationally on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. It originated as a Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 17th century. It has gradually become more of a worldly celebration of Irish culture.
According to legend, St. Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish, and the wearing and display of shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs have become a ubiquitous feature of the day.

In keeping with the legendary Green colour associated with this celebratory day, Incosmetics has chosen to share with you our Green status.
